Quarterly workshops are held in conjunction with Wrens Nest partners and tenants and special programs and events are offered throughout the year. Cathy Meyer, MDiv, AAPC, has worked in grief and loss as a bereavement coordinator with hospice for over 15 years. She has provided hospice family members and the community at large with support and counseling as they face one of the most difficult journeys in life. She has facilitated support groups for adults and children; and has led a variety of workshops and educational events. Cathy is a certified counselor with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and has been trained in Critical Incident Stress Management. Glenda Wright brings more than 20 years experience in wellness and physical fitness. She is certified by the American Council of Exercise, one of the top certifying physical fitness agencies in the nation, and she is also qualified to guide clients in TRX, a unique fitness system originally pioneered by the U.S. military. Glenda has experience working with individuals to improve strength, flexibility, injury prevention and recovery. She is currently pursuing a certification as a Corrective Exercise Specialist. Glenda’s strong passion for wellness and physical fitness inspires everyone she meets. She also provides in-house training to clients in the Dalton area. Linda Norman, DO is a retired board certified psychiatrist. She recently came out of retirement to see patients at Wrens Nest in the spring of 2018. She is passionate about the role meditation plays in mental health and views it as an effective technique in calming the sympathetic nervous system and in gaining better focus, both of which are necessary components to a healthy lifestyle. Robert D. Ryan, LCSW sees clients Monday through Wednesday at Wrens Nest. He is a licensed clinical social worker who brings more than 30 years of experience and offers individual psychotherapy with a focus on depression, anxiety, phases of life issues and grief recovery. His approach is eclectic, incorporating both psychodynamic and family systems theory. Bob received an undergraduate degree in history from Old Dominion University and a Master of Social Work from Norfolk State University. After receiving his MSW, he continued his training at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry and Mental Health Sciences in Topeka, Kan., and was on staff at the Menninger Clinic prior to relocating to Dalton, Ga. In 1994, Bob and his wife, Dr. Linda Norman, opened Dalton Psychiatric Center.
In 2015, Cindy Michaels earned her Certified Yoga Therapist certificate from the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Prior to that, she completed an 800-hour Professional Yoga Therapy training program through Etowah Valley Yoga. In addition, she is a 500 hour experienced yoga teacher and a registered prenatal yoga teacher certified through Yoga Alliance. Jenny Fraker delivers Wrens Nest an organized and creative approach to event planning and a natural flare for customizing experiences that create lasting memories. She is a life-long resident of the Dalton area and uses the planning skills she honed at Shaw Industries as marketing event coordinator. While with Shaw, Jenny worked behinds the scenes in various locations to facilitate company events, handling detailed logistics and arranging product photo shoots and customer tours. Her professional experience combined with her personal passions for crafting and photography offer clients added value when planning events at Wrens Nest. Jenny offers a big picture perspective, while leaving no details unexplored. She values the importance of celebrating life’s events, big or small, and she has a natural talent for inspiring others to create memorable experiences. Wrens Nest is proud to welcome Community Herbalist Agatha Noveille to its team! Agatha’s goal at Wrens Nest is to develop a community space for wellness and learning where people can connect with nature and herbalism through personal exploration and guided tours. She hosts garden exploration and herb workshops at Wrens Nest throughout the year. (See “Events.) Jaya Ramamurthy offers workshops at Wrens Nest periodically that focus on the ancient science of Ayurveda. Her Ayurvedic roots began during her Indian childhood, growing up in her mother and grandmother’s kitchens. She completed her formal study of Ayurveda at the California College of Ayurveda (the only state-accredited Ayurvedic institution in the USA) in 2009. Blaine Minor, MD is an experienced physician practicing internal medicine. He has a passion for positively impacting his patients through a personalized, holistic and restorative approach that includes stress reduction, natural hormone balance, adrenal and GI restoration and in-depth wellness education. Throughout his career, Dr. Minor has counseled patients to adopt healthier diets and lifestyles. His focus and expertise is in the treatment of the whole patient through nutrition education, hormone balance and encouraging patients to instill wellness habits into their lives. Ellen Craig is a certified TM instructor who hosts periodic workshops and groups at Wrens Nest. The TM technique allows an active mind to easily settle inward, through quieter levels of thought, until participants experience the most silent and peaceful level of their own awareness — pure consciousness. Ellen personally has experienced the benefits of TM and enjoys sharing her expertise with others. “Every time I teach someone how to meditate, I am in awe of the immediate results. It is such a simple, natural phenomenon that creates positive change almost instantly and continues to grow.
